Tidying the All-British shed today I’ve concluded that the power tool I’d really miss if I can’t find one is probably the cordless drill driver. So the news that Makita build them in Telford, Shropshire is exciting, especially as I have a 10.8v model already. According to Stuart McCrudden of Makita UK the Telford site is 12.5 acres and employs 500 people. They turn the motor shafts and wind fields there, and make various tools, including the LS1013 sliding mitre saw. R&D is done in Japan.
